remember the 2000 presidential election...

I do, I was an absolute independent back then watching on election night and then seeing Flordia was called for Gore, I didn't care, then they retracted it, that caught my eye. Then they called Flordia for Bush, that was a headscratcher, then they said it was too close to call, I thought that this was too damn weird and went to bed but I couldn't sleep. I stayed up half the night watching with as much confusion as the broadcasters had live on the air. The next few weeks were a blur, I remember I was sick and stayed home and watched some of the preceedings on CNN (keep in mind I was an 8th grader at the time). I remember a Ryder truck taking some ballots back and forth to places. In the end though despite all the bitching and moaning he did Gore finally conceded, that made me at least lean right; despite some of my beliefs listed below
Pro-Choice
Pro leagilization of certain drugs
Pro sex education (not abstience sp? only)
and a few others I can't think of now
The democrats are sore losers, they still believe Bush stole that election despite the fact that out of all 27 independent recounts (one done by the fricken NY Times nonetheless) done EVERY SINGLE ONE had Bush winning, granted not by a lot, I mean 527 votes in a state that has 15-20 million people, good god! They still haven't been able to let that go, even to this day. That is why I'm a conservative everyone.
Although I think that a non debateable (is that even a word?) fact is that the best thing to come from that circus was the SNL sketches witrh Will Ferrell as George Bush and Darrell Hammond as Al Gore. Those were hysterical. Anyone want to post their thoughts on what was the 2000 elections feel free.

thanks for visiting my blog (even if you are a conservative...hehe) I don't believe Bush STOLE the election, I just hate him and wish he would have lost...gotta be honest. I thought the whole Florida thing was crazy and stupid, but still a huge part of American history. Thanks for all the crazy links and cool stuff on here.

Ben - I didn't like either candidates, but seeing that Gore is married to Tipper who wanted to ban my guns, my heavy metal music, and at the time I was heavily into D&D, if I had to choose, I would have chosen Bush.
Yeah, I voted 3rd Party, but you should have seen the reaction by the Democrats. They wanted to literally kill Ralph Nader (who I voted for in 2000). I got so mad at them that I wore my Sore/Loserman shirt everywhere. And now it's 2005 and the whining hasn't stopped.

Politics suck, also nevermind the fact that once Flordia was originally called for Gore a lot of Bush voters turned around and headed home instead of going to vote at the polls, some studies suggest that Bush lost as many as 10,000 votes as a result of that premature call.

Surely you know about 2000 and the removal of black voters? So I don't have to go there do I?

Ok, I went to the site, and needless to say it is a little biased. Here is the listing of people it refers to In These Times has published the work of a wide range of noted writers, including fiction by Alice Walker and Kurt Vonnegut; reporting by Clinton speechwriter David Kusnet, former New Republic editor Andrew Sullivan, and current Salon Editor-in-Chief Joan Walsh; and political commentary by former presidential candidate George McGovern, environmentalist Sandra Steingraber, the late Democratic Sen. Paul Wellstone of Minnesota, novelists Barbara Kingsolver and Dorothy Allison, and a number of contemporary members of the House of Representatives who contribute to the magazine’s “House Call” column.
Daniel are you honestly going to tell me this is an unbiased source? There isn't even anyone close to the right of the spectrum they mentioned. Find me and UNBIASED source and then we will talk.

Paul - everyone's biased and people who say they're not biased are liars.

One good thing about this country is we have so many different sources for information. I could get anything from far Left-wing to far Right-wing and everything in between.
