Katrina could wipe New Orleans off the map...

Or at least make it Lake New Orleans. See Katrina is what scientists have feared for years a possible Category 4-5 hurricane taking direct aim at the city. The problem is that the city is 13 feet below sea level, and if Katrina, god forbid, hits them directly the levis that protect New Orleans will collapse and New Orleans will be flooded with no where for the water to go. How do I know this? Well when I was little I loved watching TLC (before it became the gay channel) and Discovery Channel. Scientists always feared this day, and now the day could be here. Anyone in the Southeast that is reading this and in the area of this storm GET OUT NOW (but I think most of you have already). This isn't something to be messed with, Katrina is shaping up to be the next Andrew, possibly worse.

Here is Satellite photo of the monster:

And the all important projected paths.

Yikes.

New Orleans will survive. It goes through these several times a century, but lots of damage will be done.

As someone who has been in hurricanes, I keep hearing from people "how could you live in California, there are earthquakes there?"

Well, as someone who's been in hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes, I'll take earthquakes every time. If you die, you die, and it's over. You'll be suffering from a hurricane or tornado for weeks or months afterwards. Besides, they seem to take forever when you're going through them.

Earthquakes happen and that's it. You look around and make sure you and your friends are not dead, and if not, you go back to what you're doing.

Oh, by the way, we had an earthquake last week. It went like this:
"Yo Dave!"

"Yeah?"

"Did we just have an earthquake?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, okay."

Then he went online and found the official CA earthquake site. Sure enough, 2.5 earthquake.

tell me about it ZS, I am kinda freaked out on how accurate my "prediction" is turning out to be. Their saying it could take them 4 months to pump all of the water out of NO if it's as bad as they say it's going to be (and yet, it could still get worse).
And given the choice between tornadoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes, I'll take tornadoes here in the good ol midwest any day of the week ;)

Whoa! I take back what I said about the hurricane. Looks like this one's bigger than usual.
