MN Governor update:

well it may not be a super long convention after all. For the MNGOP there are 1656 total delegates seated to the state convention and endorsement takes a 60% majority vote the candidate will need 994 votes for endorsement. Here are the 2 delegate counts by MDE, why there is a dramatic difference I have no idea.

Count 1:

Marty Seifert – 827 (49.93%)
Tom Emmer – 835 (50.42%)
Undecided – 184 (11.11%)

That has been traditionally the "Seifert poll" on MDE and the fact that Emmer is ahead of him (granted by the slimmest of slim margins) is very bad news for the Seifert camp. From this vote count we could be looking at triple digit ballots for the nomination because nearly all of the undecideds will have to swing one way or another and that will be a tall order.

Count 2:

Marty Seifert – 768 (46.3%)
Tom Emmer – 900 (54.3%)
Undecided – 177 (10.7%)

Now this is interesting the second vote count has less undecideds but a massive swing to Emmer. If this is anywhere close to the actual count Emmer might win within the first 10-15 ballots maybe even earlier. There is a live chat on MDE tonight at 8 which I will participate in and report back after.
