Townhall meeting....

God, I am getting really annoyed with this McCain hatred in the party. I think the guy gets a bad rap, I defended the man for about 90 minutes against a bunch of Romneyacs. I hope to be able to convince them that he is better than Obama or Clinton and some are doing a suicide/protest vote for a third party. I hope to be able to talk to you ZS about McCain, he is very good on the free speech (McCain-Fiengold isn't as bad as everyone says it is) and most importantly the 2nd amendment. We need someone like him in office now to deal with Iraq (were not getting out of there anytime soon, no matter what your stance is/was you need to realize that much) and if, God forbid, we are attacked again he will know what to do with the situation. I welcome responses to this and any challeges to McCain. I will defend him forever.

McCain has it locked up...

About an hour ago during my bowling class (yea I know) I heard that Romney was going to drop out. I wouldn't believe it until I heard it from him. So I am estatic right now because my second choice (Guliani was my original pick) is going to be the nominee of the Republican party. And the convention is right over in St. Paul so I will be there in one capacity or another (hopefully a delegate, more likely as a volunteer). Right now I am starting a little odds system that I am making up for who John McCain will nominate as his VP running mate. If I forgot anyone credible (Ron Paul supporters please, please understand he has no chance in hell) please let me know and I will reflect that in my next odds post. I will probably do it weekly. I am going to a townhall meeting tonight and I will post about it later tonight.

Mike Huckabee 3:2
Tim Pawlenty 4:1

Rudy Guliani 50:1

I'm back... again.

Ok, I know I've promised to start blogging again and now I will hopefully consistantly update this site 4-10 times a week. I went to my caucus last night and 84 people from my precinct showed up! Pretty freaking amazing, I was elected an alternate for the convention. I will post my thoughts on Super Tuesday tomorrow. Night all

I have had it with Bush...

I defend and defend this guy but I can't defends no more (props to anyone who got the vague Popeye refrence). But seriously this is the final straw. I am burning my RNC card tomorrow and while I am a republican in the sense that I vote for them I am done with them as a party. Here is the story as a quote from the article which can be found here
Jose Medellin confessed in 1993 to participating in the rape and murder of two Houston teenagers. Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Pena were sodomized and strangled with their shoe laces. Medellin bragged about keeping one girl's Mickey Mouse watch as a souvenir of the crime.
Ok here's the kicker, the Hauge a.k.a. World Court, a.k.a the New World Order thoght that Medellin wasn't informed to his right to contact the Mexican Consulate and viewd it as a violation of the Vienna treaty established in 1963 saying those fucking losers in Hauge have the final say and not the national court system of the country.
Now I know your probably saying, Ben this is horrible and disgusting, this can't get any worse can it? Oh it can my friend, it can. Get this THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT IS SIDING WITH THAT LITTLE CHILD RAPIST AND MURDERER MEDELLIN SAYING THE CONVICTION SHOULD BE OVERTURNED OR LESSENED. Let me repeat that, THE PRESIDENT IS NOT ALLYING WITH THE STATE HE WAS GOVERNOR OF FOR 4 YEARS HE IS SIDING WITH A CONFESSED AND CONVICTED CHILD RAPIST AND MURDERER. I need to bring this up with some people, this needs to be more publicized and I think that this could be an impeachable offense, Bush has NO RIGHTS to tell what the Judicial Branch can and can't do.
Thought's anyone?

Tagged by ZS...

Ok, I was tagged...

1) I am a libertarian. That means in today's society I vote Republican because I have a brain and voting for true libertarians is just stupid. Which is why I think Ron Paul is setting back libertarianism by about 20-30 years. I am very anti-government intervention but unlike true libertarians I know it is a necessary evil. I am for small limited government and I don't like taxes but I believe there should be a flat tax (go look it up if you don't know what I'm talking about). I am very pissed off right now because outside of Rudy there is no one even close to me in the political idealolgy.

2) I am a HUGE sports fan, and I have been since the age of six. I like football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and hockey (in that order). I love all 3 levels of the sports, high school, college, and pro. I am very depressed about the fact that all my local teams suck now, with the exception of the Wild, I mean its really tough being a sports fan here in Minnesota. I am personally rooting for the Rockies to win it all because I think it would be fun to see them win and they are damn hot right now.

3) I am probably one of the most politically incorrect people you will ever meet. ZS can attest to this. Obviously we live in a PC society today and I basically say, "fuck that" (I also swear a lot, more on that in a later section) to the conventional "wisdom" of todays society. Also people need to seriously lighten up, people take things way too literally today. If were not careful we will end up like our enemy, those are people that need to laugh. Seriously, radical Islam has no sense of humor and those people take things way too literally but I digress.

4) I can be a very trustworty person. I almost always keep my word and I am a very loyal boyfriend (as a sidenote, yes I am dating this one girl and have been for the past 2+ months and things are going well) and I can and do keep secrets.

5) I am a student. Not necessacerily a good one but one nonetheless. I am getting better and I hope to be going to the University of Minnesota by next school year. I have friends at school that I hang out with sometimes on the weekends.

6) I am what you would call a person of faith but not religious. I was raised Catholic (don't get me started) and I consider myself non-denominational christian now. I'm not quite sure what to believe but I do believe in Heaven and Hell and good and evil (I am NOT a moral relativist). I am really not sure what to and what not to believe in the Bible because even though it is claimed to have been it was not written by God, it was written by humans and by that fact it is incorrect.

7) On a ligther note I am a videogame nut. I have bought Madden the last 6 years in a row and I love just about any sports or shooting (FPS) games. I mainly play on my PS2, hopefully a PS3 soon, and I just love it.

I'm not going to continue to tag people because I don't know many people here. Also I'm going to do a topic post later tonight.

what a weekend...

Wow, if I forgot to mention it before I will now. I am a HUGE football fan; that includes high school, college and pro. Last night my old high school (Benilde-St.Margarets) lost our homecoming game 13-7. It was tough because we had our chances to win but Irondale scored the go ahead touchdown with 15 seconds to play. Today I woke up late and I got to catch the second hald of the Illnois vs. Wisconsin game. That was awsome and Illnois won 31-26, not just because I hate the Badgers guts but because my Dad spent 7 years at the U of I and I like rooting for them... when they are good... which is not often. I will post some hard news topics probably next week starting on monday but for now enjoy this.

I'm back...

Ok here's the deal I just got done talking to Zombieslayer on AIM and I've decided to return to the world of blogging, but I will continue my old format, this means not only will I discuss politics but I will talk about sports and review movies I've seen and CD's I've bought. On the outside chance I mention something pop-culture related (like TMZ shit) you should either shoot me or (perferably) tell me to shut the fuck up about it, this does not include my occasional rant about how the news reports stories to death, those are still fair game. I hope that my old readers will come back and I hope to find new ones in the process. Thank you and goodnight.

going to a meeting tonight...

Mary Kiffmyer will be speaking at our SD41 Republicans monthly meeting. It should be fun. I also hope to start blogging more often now that political season is heating up.

basketball...

for those of you who don't know I'm a big basketball fan. I just got finished watching the Cavs and Pistons (amazing game) and am getting ready to watch the Spurs and Mavs. Even though my beloved Wolves made a really big run in 2004 to the Western Confrence Finals, I think that overall this postseason (so far) has been the best in recent memory. At least since the late 90's with the Bulls and Jazz always getting everything they could handle but making it to the Finals back to back years.
Also for those of you new to my blog you can get a good idea of where I stand on most political issues here. This was written by my friend from high school Stevie Porter. I will someday go into my own detail about my views but I'm too lazy to now.

Bush's speech...

I'm mixed about about it. I like the idea of the nationial guard but I wish he had mentioned something about the Minutemen, they could be a big help if the government would just be willing to admit things are totally out of control and there are people out there that really want to help soley for the reason of patriotism.

Message to all the hippies

Check this CNN quick poll out:
What's a bigger incentive for you to leave the car in the garage?

It's Earth Day, save the planet 17% 6235 votes

High gas prices, save money 83% 30620 votes
Total: 36855 votes

So much for saving the planet huh? Keep fighting the losing battle, people care about the planet but we care about our pocketbooks first. It may be sad to some of you but that's life.

I'm back...

and now I have to establish a reading base again. I'll capsulate my opinions about the hot button issues that have been striking the headlines lately.

The stripper who is accusing those Duke lacrosse players of rape is scum, no DNA no conviction.

The DA is just trying to win points with the locals, that's the only reason he indicted them.

Gas is way too fucking high (Oil hit $75 a barrel today), for God sakes lets get going on alternative energy options, were all talk on that.

My Republicans are screwing up again and again and again, it's enough to make one go insane. My only comfort is that the dems are even more screwed up.

I'm going to a SD41 convention tommorow bright and early, maybe I can help them change some policies.

movie review

Also, congrats to Texas and I wish PM Ariel Sharon a full recovery.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was an amazingly done movie. It told a good basic good vs. evil story in 2 hours flat. It did have some connections to the Bible but they were very loose, the special effects were amazing and the fight sequence at the end was very well done. I would give it a 9/10 and I think that it should get some consideration for best picture but since it's a "kiddy" movie it won't.

movie reviews...

After a couple week layoff I'm back, and I am going to review 3 movies that I have seen over the past couple weeks.

King Kong was a very well done movie, a little bit on the long side though. In the end it did tell a good story and I would give it a 8/10

Fun with Dick and Jane is a comedy all the way and Alec Baldwin does a great job playing the slimy CEO of a bankrupt company who actually does get what's coming to him in the end. The movie isn't as funny as I thought it would be so I would give it a 7/10

Walk the Line is the story about Johnny Cash and they do a great job showing all of his ups and downs. From his brother being killed when he was young to him finally making it to his addiction of painkillers and finally getting to marry the woman he loves at the very end. This movie gets a 9/10 and will probably win a few Oscars in a couple months.

Americans say finish the job in Iraq...

Granted it's at 57%, down from last year. But still, the vast majority of Americans want the job finished in Iraq as opposed to cutting and running. This article courtesy of Newsmax.

A solid majority of Americans oppose immediately pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq, citing as a main reason the desire to finish the job of stabilizing the country, an AP-Ipsos poll found.

Some 57 percent of those surveyed said the U.S. military should stay until Iraq is stabilized, while 36 percent favor an immediate troop withdrawal. A year ago, 71 percent of respondents favored keeping troops in Iraq until it was stabilized.

In an effort to build public support for his Iraq policy, President Bush planned an Oval Office address for Sunday night to discuss the U.S. mission and what lies ahead in 2006.

The speech will be his first from the Oval Office since March 2003 when he announced the invasion of Iraq. In the past two weeks, the president has given four speeches on Iraq.

In the poll, when people were asked in an open-ended question the main reason the U.S. should keep troops in Iraq, 32 percent said to stabilize the country and 26 percent said to finish the rebuilding job under way.
Only one in 10 said they wanted to stay in Iraq to fight terrorism; just 3 percent said to protect U.S. national security.

"You've got to finish the job," said Terry Waterman, a store manager from Superior, Wis. "The whole world is looking to us for leadership. We can't have another Vietnam."

Other recent polling has found that when given additional options, many people favor a step somewhere in between having troops leave immediately and staying until the country is stabilized.

After months of unrelenting violence, millions of Iraqis turned out this past week to choose a parliament. Early estimates placed the voter turnout close to 70 percent of 15 million Iraqis voting.

Some 49 percent of Americans now say the war with Iraq was a mistake, according to the poll of 1,006 adults conducted Tuesday through Thursday. That compares with 53 percent in August. Two years ago, only 34 percent of those surveyed said the war was a mistake.
Two years ago, after ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was captured, 64 percent of respondents said the war was the right thing to do. Now, 42 percent say it was the right decision.

Over the past two years, some of the biggest shifts on whether the war was a good decision or a mistake have come among married people with children, those with low incomes and those with a high school education or less.

"Whether the war is a mistake is less relevant than what we should do now," said John McAdams, a political scientist at Marquette University in Milwaukee. "A fair number of people may think it's a mistake, but still don't want to lose."

Joe Liberman comes to terms...

This is good news, it is showing divison in the democratic party. They can't seem to agree on anything anymore.

Following up on his Wall Street Journal article Tuesday defending the Iraq war, Sen. Joseph Lieberman is reminding Bush administration critics that it's wrong to claim that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. attacked in 2003.

"The so-called Duelfer Report, which a lot of people read to say there were no weapons of mass destruction - concluded that Saddam continued to have very low level of chemical and biological programs," Lieberman told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.

"[Saddam] was trying to break out of the U.N. sanctions by going back into rapid redevelopment of chemical and biological and probably nuclear [weapons]," Lieberman said, calling the Iraqi dictator "a ticking time bomb."

"I have no regrets" that the U.S. toppled Saddam, the former vice presidential candidate explained. "I think we can finish are job there, and as part of it - really transform the Arab-Islamic world."

Story Continues Below

Lieberman said that his fellow Democrats haven't taken kindly to his decision to buck his party on Iraq.
"There's been some grumbling," he told Hannity. "In Connecticut there's a 'Dump Joe' web site that has cropped up."

But Lieberman added, "I've been here long enough where, at this stage in my career, I'm going to do what I think is right."
